DIY- Headboard

I am not a crafty person.. I'm creative, but not crafty.  I've tried scrap-booking once...and lets just say my oldest is going into 6th grade and I'm still trying to finish his Kindergarten year in his scrap book.  So, when I got the bright idea to do several do it yourself projects in my latest clients home, I seriously do not  know what came over me. But for some reason, I knew I could do it...craft challenged as I am...I knew I could do this.

My client had a good size master bedroom with vaulted ceilings.  When she first brought me into her room, my eye instantly went to her bed and it was seriously lacking in height.  The bed is the main focal point for a bedroom, so I knew she needed a new head board...but my clients budget would have been eaten up just in that one piece alone leaving no room in the budget  for the rest of the room.  So my wheels started turning...and I decided to "make" her one.  And thankfully, I am married to a very handy man who I knew could help me with this project......actually he is good looking and handy!..... yes, I scored:)

Anywho.....here are some of the before, during and after photos of the King size headboard. We simply attached it to her existing bed frame and also to the wall for added strength.  I chose to go with burlap fabric , its affordable, has great texture and the color was perfect for this space.  I also covered the buttons I used for tufting the headboard with burlap as well. (Thanks to my amazingly crafty neighbor KarenJo who had all the tools needed to make this process go much much easier.)

Enjoy!

Here are some photos from along the way.....
